Wilson Center Launches the Wahba Institute for Strategic Competition

February 1, 2023

We are proud to announce the launch of our newest initiative, the Wahba Institute for Strategic Competition, a hub for topical and regional research on infrastructure, trade, energy and more.  In recent years, authoritarian regimes have sought to tilt global norms in their favor, spurring a new era of strategic competition. The Wahba Institute, or WISC, will work on the cutting edge of this new era.  WISC is named for Global Advisory Council member Sadek Wahba, an advocate for transformative approaches to infrastructure investment. Mark Kennedy will serve as WISC’s director, leading the program’s efforts to shape conversations and inspire meaningful action to strengthen the technological, economic and infrastructure underpinnings required for the US and its allies to deter aggression and secure the rules-based order.
